The Project
Amazing Gardens and Landscaping required a high-quality soil installation to complete the rooftop gardens at Altum Living, a luxury apartment development in Scarborough. With multiple large garden areas to be filled, PMB was engaged to supply, deliver, and install 60m³ of specialised rooftop soil mix onsite – which was all installed in a single day.
Given the site’s location on a narrow residential street, and the need to coordinate with other trades, careful planning, scheduling and coordination were essential to achieving this same-day installation.

Tight Access & Time Constraints –
As it was a large project located on a small residential street, getting in and out quickly was critical to minimise disruption.
Pre-Installation Coordination –
To ensure a smooth installation, the site needed to be properly prepared before our arrival, including waterproofing, irrigation pre-lays, and geotextile mesh placement.

Smart Logistics & Equipment Planning:
- Dedicated Crew: We allocated four team members to this project, ensuring a quick setup and installation, as well as a thorough clean-up.
- Pre-Staged Setup: The blower truck pipes were positioned on-site early, allowing for immediate installation upon the truck’s arrival.
- High-Performance Machinery: We deployed our most powerful blower truck, along with a slinger truck for on-site reloading, allowing us to maintain peak productivity and complete the job in just one day.
Proactive Coordination & Communication:
Success in rooftop projects depends on teamwork. We worked closely with Lionel and his Amazing Gardens & Landscape team to ensure everything was ready before our arrival, including:
- Waterproofing completed and irrigation pre-lays in place.
- Corflute and drainage cell installed.
- Geotextile mesh secured, preventing disruption during installation.
Additionally, we ensured that no incompatible trades (such as painters, tilers, or site cleaners) were scheduled during our work, allowing for an uninterrupted installation process.
